Jacket Racket | Message from Student Council
Tom Baines has been a proud supporter of the Jacket Racket program for MANY years. We collect clean, gently used winter coats, snow pants, toques, mittens, and snow boots. The collected items are then donated to the Jacket Racket team and they, in turn, ensure that the clothing is given to kids, in Calgary, that need them.
Please look through your closets and see if you have any extra winter items that you no longer need that you are willing to part with. Your contribution will be put to good use.
Donations are being collected until Oct. 22.
Items are to be brought to centre court. Place the items in the black garbage bags on tables.
Thank you in advance for your support.
Emergency Preparedness
Last week, our school completed an evacuation drill that included walking to our off-site evacuation location at Foothills Alliance Church. This is the location we would use if an emergency required us to leave school property. Our students did an excellent job remaining safe, silent, and serious throughout the drill. Thank you to our students and staff for taking this important safety practice seriously.
Athletics
Our soccer teams carried on this week with our girls playing two hard games playing tough teams with two losses but in both games the girls played hard and came together as a team. Our boys team played on Monday and kept up with their opponent working hard but also coming up short. The teams will finish their regular season next week followed by playoffs the following week. Good luck to the teams.
All basketball teams have now been made. Congratulations to all of the athletes that made the teams. Our seniors will be playing in a feeder tournament on October 2 at Sir Winston Churchill School so good luck to them at their tournament. Our junior girls will play their first games of the season on Monday, and the rest of the teams will continue to practice getting ready for their regular seasons to start. Good luck and Go Boas Go!

Message from TB Parent Council | Co-Treasurer Needed!
Hello Parents of Tom Baines,
Thank you to everyone who was able to attend our first Parent Council meeting this past Monday!
We are happy to share that most of our Parent Council positions have now been filled, thanks to the wonderful parent volunteers who have stepped up to support our school community.
We are currently looking for a Co-Treasurer to work alongside Peggy, our current Treasurer.
The Treasurer role is an important part of the Parent Council. This position helps ensure that our funds are managed responsibly and that our budget is spent wisely on the areas that are most beneficial to our school and our children.
Every member of the Parent Council plays an important role, and we truly appreciate all of the time, ideas, and support our parent volunteers provide. Without everyone's help, we would not be able to have a successful school year!
Co-Treasurer Responsibilities:
- Keep and maintain all financial records
- Verify deposits and payments
- Write cheques and process invoices for payment
- Review the annual budget
- Present the monthly financial position at Parent Council meetings
If you think you would be a good fit for this position, or know someone who may be interested, please reach out to us at TBS.event.biz@gmail.com.
Thank you again to all of our amazing parent volunteers for helping make Tom Baines a great school community!
