Orange Shirt Day and National Day for Truth and Reconciliation 

On Tuesday, September 29, Tom Baines will recognize Orange Shirt Day. Students and staff are encouraged to wear orange as we honour Survivors of residential schools, remember the children who never returned home, and continue learning about our shared responsibility toward Truth and Reconciliation. 

A reminder that all CBE schools are closed on Wednesday, September 30, for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. We encourage families to take time on this day to learn, reflect, and consider how each of us can contribute to the ongoing journey of reconciliation. 

Terry Fox Run Update 

Last week, our students took part in a 4 km Terry Fox Run in support of cancer research. We were also treated to an amazing dramatic performance by our Grade 8 Drama students, which helped make the event especially memorable. 

A big thank you to Mrs. Lloyd, Mr. Jones, and Mr. D for all their work organizing the event, and to Mrs. Dey for organizing Tattoos for Terry. 

Thanks to the generosity of our Tom Baines community, we raised $2037 in support of cancer research. Thank you to everyone who participated, donated, and helped make the day such a success! 

Message from TB Parent Council | Co-Treasurer Needed! 

Hello Parents of Tom Baines, 

Thank you to everyone who was able to attend our first Parent Council meeting this past Monday! 

We are happy to share that most of our Parent Council positions have now been filled, thanks to the wonderful parent volunteers who have stepped up to support our school community. 

We are currently looking for a Co-Treasurer to work alongside Peggy, our current Treasurer. 

The Treasurer role is an important part of the Parent Council. This position helps ensure that our funds are managed responsibly and that our budget is spent wisely on the areas that are most beneficial to our school and our children. 

Every member of the Parent Council plays an important role, and we truly appreciate all of the time, ideas, and support our parent volunteers provide. Without everyone's help, we would not be able to have a successful school year! 

Co-Treasurer Responsibilities: 

• Keep and maintain all financial records 
• Verify deposits and payments 
• Write cheques and process invoices for payment 
• Review the annual budget 
• Present the monthly financial position at Parent Council meetings

Athletics Update 

Our cross country finished their last race this week on Monday on a beautiful fall day in Confederation Park.  All of our athletes did amazing with their runs with our top two runners finishing 6^th and 7^th and a lot that finished top 50.  Tom Baines is so proud of how hard these runners worked for their season.  Great Job Boas!!! 

Our soccer teams have continued with their seasons with our boys teams playing two games this week and coming up short in both of them but coming together as a team and improving every game.  Our girls team played their second game on Tuesday and had another impressive win with the girls playing really hard and working well as a team.   

Girls basketball started practicing this week with the girls working on their offense and improving their skills.  Our boys ran tryouts this week with lots of kids trying out giving our coaches some hard decisions.  Congratulations to all of the students who have made our teams and good luck to them in their upcoming season.

Student Health Plans 

To help support the health, safety, and well-being of all students, families are asked to complete a Student Health Plan if their child has a medical condition that may affect their school day or if medication needs to be administered during the school day. The plan outlines important information about the student's health needs, medication requirements, potential side effects, emergency responses, communication procedures, and parent/guardian contact information. Student Health Plans are reviewed annually and should be updated whenever there is a change in a student's medical condition or treatment. Please complete and return the attached Student-Health-Plan.pdf as soon as possible if it applies to your child. If you need a printed copy of the form, please notify the school and we will have one sent home with your child.
