Next Year – e are starting to plan for the 2024 – 2025 school year. We will once again be capped and new registrations will be overflowed to Arbour Lake School. If you are not planning on attending Tom Baines School next year, please contact the office to let us know at tombaines@cbe.ab.ca. Because of our cap, any students living out of area (not in The Hamptons or Edgemont) will be designated to their community school.
Athletics – we wrapped up our volleyball season in March and our Boas did a great job. Thank you to all of the teachers who coached and mentored our students. Badminton tryouts are in full swing and the teams will be established soon. Good luck Boas!
Provincial Achievement Exams – you have probably heard that the government cancelled the Grade 6 ELA and Math PATs this year. Grade 6 students will only write Science and Social exams in June. Grade 9 students will write exams for all four subjects. Grade 7 and 8 students will have final exams created by their teachers and they will be written the same days as PATs. Exam dates are below, please mark your calendars.
May 13 – Grade 9 ELA Part A (writing)
June 12 – Grade 9 ELA Part B (reading comprehension)
June 13 – Grade 9 Math Part A
June 18 – Grade 9 Math Part B

Complementary Courses – students in Grades 6-8 will be working with Mrs. Bartlett over the next few weeks to choose their complementary courses for next school year. These will be chosen during school hours, so please have conversations with your children about their selections. Reminder that the Band course is a full year class. There are many options to choose from that enhance the learning for our students.
Thank you,
Derek Siakaluk, Principal
Jen Bartlett, Assistant Principal
