Hello Tom Baines Families,
Welcome to 2026! We hope you all had a wonderful winter break. We were excited to welcome our students back on Monday and it has been a busy week. We hosted a school dance, had volleyball tryouts and dove right back into learning. We are excited for the year ahead.
Please read below for important information.
Important Dates:
January 12 – Plaza Field Trip for Film students
January 15 – Lockdown Practice for students
January 19 – Band Concert @ Foothills Alliance Church – 6:30 pm
January 26 – School Council in the Learning Commons at 7:00 pm – all parents invited to attend
January 27 – Last day of Term 1
January 28 – First day of Term 2 (option change)
January 30 – Professional Learning Day – no school for students
Athletics – Volleyball tryouts are underway. Thank you to all of our staff members stepping up to coach. And thank you to all of the students who came to tryout. Once the teams are finalized, they will be provided with practice and game time information. Go Boas!
Staffing Update – we are saying goodbye to our Food Services Supervisor, Mrs. Kara Reed on January 15. She is retiring and moving on to her next adventures. She has worked in the Tom Baines cafeteria for many, many years and will be greatly missed. We welcome Ms. Rupina Gomes into this role beginning January 19.
Weather – another reminder to ensure that your child is appropriately dressed for the weather. We know they’re in Junior High and don’t love to wear winter clothing, but it is important they are prepared. We go outside for the second half of lunch if it is warmer than -20 degrees. Thank you!
Cell Phone Reminder – students are expected to keep their cell phones and ear buds in their lockers. They are only permitted to use them during the second half of lunch. First infraction is a discussion with administration and the phone is kept in the office until the end of the day. Second infraction is communication home. Third infraction is parents must come and pick the cell phone up. Thank you for your support with this.
Yearbook - Time is running out to order your 2026 yearbook. Scan the code in the email sent on January 7 to order your copy before February 27! The code is also available on our website.
Thank you all for your support. We are so grateful to be part of this amazing community.
