Hello Tom Baines Families,
We are slowly approaching Spring Break and warmer weather (hopefully!). We have a busy few weeks prior to the break and we are excited for some amazing learning opportunities. Please see below for important information.
Important Dates:
March 13 – Paul Davis presentations for students and parents
March 17-18 – Annie Musical Presentation
March 17 – School Council Meeting
March 20 – 21 – School Conferences
March 24 – 28 – Spring Break. No school for students.
March 31 – Classes resume
Paul Davis presentation – Paul Davis is an expert around social media and its effects on youth. His presentations provide critical information for parents and caregivers around how to navigate social media use and support children. All parents are invited to attend his presentation and you are highly encouraged to come. It will be held at the Foothills Alliance Church on March 13 @ 6:30 pm. Please plan to attend.
He will be presenting to the students during the school day.
Annie Musical - Due to the ongoing CUPE strike we need to make some changes around showtimes. Confirmed information will come out early next week.
School Council – Our next meeting is March 17 online at 7:00 pm. A link and agenda will be sent out prior to the meeting.
Conferences - Due to the strike, these will be online. A separate email will be sent out about how and when to register. Conferences will be March 20 from 4:30 – 8:00 pm and March 21 from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm.
Cell Phones – our students are very respectful and follow our cell phone policy, which is that cell phones must remain in the locker during school hours. Students can have their cell phones for the last half of lunch. Occasionally, students choose not to follow this policy and have their phones with them in class. If a student is sent to the office with their phone, we proceed in the following manner:
1) First time - student can pick up their cell phone at the end of the day
2) Second time – student meets with an administrator at the end of the day to discuss. Phone is returned and an email is sent home.
3) Third time – school keeps the phone until a parent can come pick it up and administration will have a meeting with them.
Athletics - our junior volleyball teams fought a good fight and worked very hard this season. Our senior teams are heading into semi-finals and we wish them the best of luck. Go Boas!
Thank you all for your continued support. We depend on all of us working together to ensure the best education for your children.
