Hello Tom Baines Families,

The weather is finally beautiful! We are grateful for the moisture but are looking forward to sunny days ahead. School years often get busier as they come to an end and we are seeing that at Tom Baines. As usual, we have a few busy weeks ahead. Thank you for all of your continued support! Please read below for important information.

Traffic Safety - Thank you to everyone who makes student safety a priority. Unfortunately, we’ve had an increase of community complaints about the traffic before and after school. Many complaints are about families speeding, stopping in the middle of the road and kids running across the road. Please ensure you follow all traffic rules. We often call the police to come and monitor situations.

CTF Showcase – this amazing event is being held on May 16 from 5:30 – 8:00. It is open to all families and will be a great opportunity to showcase the learning happening in our complementary courses. A specific invite went out earlier this week.

Grade 9 Farewell - this will be held on Thursday, June 6 from 6:30 – 8:30 pm at the school. It is for Grade 9 students only and will consist of games, treats and a dance. We are looking forward to it!

Provincial Achievement Tests – our first exam is May 13. This is a regular day of school and students are expected to stay for the whole day. Students in Grades 6-8 will be staying in their homerooms for the morning and then having regular classes in the afternoon. Grade 9 students will have regular classes once the exam is over. The second round of exams begins June 12 and we will provide more information about schedules and absences prior to that.

Please know that the cafeteria and vending machine will not be available during PATs. All students need to bring their own snacks and water bottles.

Good luck to our Boas in their badminton tournaments next week!

Have a great few weeks.
