Important Dates:

May 14 – Grade 8 Band Festival Day

May 15 – Open House (5:30) and Complementary Course Showcase (6:30). Open House is only for students new to Tom Baines

May 16 – Professional Learning Day. No school for students

May 19 – Victoria Day – no school

May 21 – Culture Day – wear clothing that represents your culture

May 22 – Grade 8 Trip to Rosebud

May 26 – School Council at 7:00 pm in the Learning Commons

May 27 – Grade 6 Vaccinations

May 28 – Grade 6 ELA PAT – regular school day

May 29 – Grade 9 ELA PAT – regular school day

Complementary Course Selections – forms were sent home today and are due on May 15. This is the first step for students to choose comps. Mrs. O’Leary will collect these forms so we have a paper copy. The week of May 19, students will select these comps online at school. We do our best to give students their first choices, but this is not always possible. Students will find out their comps when they arrive at school in September.

School Council – our final school council meeting is on Monday, May 26 at 7:00 pm in our Learning Commons. Please come join us!

Grade 9 Farewell – this is planned for June 19 from 6:30 – 8:30. Please see the attachment for more information. Fees are assigned on your MyCBEAccount. If your child is not attending, please email tombaines@cbe.ab.ca and we will remove the fee.

Staffing Update – we want to give a big congratulations to Mr. Craig Dubray who has accepted an Assistant Principal position at Captain Nichola Goddard School. He will begin in the Fall. Mr. Dubray will be greatly missed at Baines but will be a great asset to Goddard. We will fill his position through the spring staffing process.
