Hello Tom Baines Families,

Students and staff have settled in nicely as we have returned to our routines and focused on reconnecting, reassuring and learning the curriculum. The CBE will continue to communicate out any information about changes due to the strike that impacts all students and schools. Our calendar remains the same and we are slowly introducing extra-curriculars, athletics and other opportunities. Thank you so much for your continued support. Important Dates:

November 7 – Remembrance Day Assembly

November 10 – 12 – Fall Break – No School

November 17 – 18 – Casino – thank you to everyone who volunteered.

November 27 – 28 – Conferences – more information will come out about these in a separate email.

Athletics – Our soccer season was cut short due to the strike, thank you to all of our coaches and students who participated this year. Basketball practices have resumed this week and the season of play will be much shorter. Game dates and information will communicated out by our coaches. Go Boas!

Remembrance Day Assembly – we ask that all students wear a poppy for the assembly. We will provide these at the school and ask students to bring in a donation if they can. We will hold two assemblies on Friday and they are for students and staff only.

Jacket Racket – We are looking for clean, gently used winter coats, boots, toques, scarves, and mittens to donate to families in need. If you have some that you are no longer using, please send them to school with your child. Collection bags will be on the round tables in center court. We are collecting until Monday, November 17.

Parking and Traffic – a HUGE thank you to everyone for increasing the safety of our parking lots. We have noticed a significant improvement with traffic around our school and the following of signs. It is appreciated.

Student Teachers – We have welcomed six student teachers from the University of Calgary into our school. We are excited to work alongside them and to have them learn their practice at Tom Baines. If your child has a student teacher, you will be able to meet them during conferences.
