Hello Tom Baines Families,

We have had a busy few weeks that included science experiments, engaging classroom tasks, band clinics, Grade 9 field trips, soccer matches and basketball games. Our Boas continue to perform well and we want to thank each of the players and coaches for their dedication to their teams. Go Boas!

Important Dates:

October 21 – School Council at 7:00 pm in the Learning Commons

October 25 – Professional Learning Day – No school for students

October 29 – Photo Retake Day

October 31 – Halloween – students can dress up – no masks, gore or inappropriate clothing

Jacket Racket - We are two weeks into our Jacket Racket campaign. We are looking for clean, gently used winter coats, boots, toques, mitts, and snow pants. These clothes will be given to families in need so please go through your closets and see if you have things you can donate. All donations can be brought to center court. Last day for donations is Wednesday, Oct. 23.

School Council – our second meeting of the year will be on Monday, October 21 at 7:00 pm in our Learning Commons. We invite all parents to attend as we discuss important school information and make decisions on future expenditures and goals. We look forward to seeing you there.

Provincial Achievement Tests – results of the Grade 6 PATs will be sent home with students soon.

School Development Plan – we are finalizing our school development goals for the year. Our focus will be on building literacy and numeracy skills through vocabulary development and increasing the sense of student belonging. It will be available on our website by mid-November.

Social Media – a very common app used amongst teens is discord. This can be used to foster communication and allows students to stay connected. Unfortunately, we are seeing an increase in students using discord inappropriately to bully or send negative messages. Please review the link below to ensure you understand how you can support your child to successfully use this.
